[this is good]
this is frighteningly beautiful, but then again i have a love hate relationship with anything glass. as much as i can see the beauty in glass sculptures, the fragileness of it makes me so uneasy and i always think about the times i've cut myself on broken glass when i was younger. it makes me cringe but i'm still in awe that someone could create something so beautiful.
oh dale chihuly always amazes me...this one summer night many years ago, i was sitting outside this restaurant along the ship canal in seattle, right next to his studio and i could see him inside it working alone under a single light. i wanted to climb up the side of that building and watch him for hours, it was so amazing to watch him work.....i always think of that night when i see his work (which is so prevalent nowadays!)....
Wow...that was a rare glimpse I'm thinking. He has all his lackeys doing the work now. It is really amazing how famous he's become though. Joe laments how the top artists have become...more about envisioning the art than implementing these days. Koons is the same way.
