destruction!
This is what we woke up to this morning:
There is a really ugly garagelike structure that was on a lot next door to our house. It has always looked terrible. The previous owners used it to restore old cars and to sell four lots in front of it as parking (our town doesn't let you park on the street at night). It was always in a huge state of disrepair and our landlords tried to purchase it several times but never had any luck getting the owners to sell it. It was purchased recently by a woman probably my age, who is mercifully taking down this eyesore and will be building condos on the property.
It was crazy to watch the backhoe just shredding this thing, although the guy driving it was methodical and careful. It was amazing the precision that the guy had when it came to taking exactly what he wanted. It was strange, but basically he spent careful time to separate the wood from the metal. The guys on the ground would take the wood and put it in the dumpster. The backhoe would just push the metal deeper into the garage as he tore the structure around it down. I really wished I didn't have to rush off to work--would have been fun to watch. We'll see what it looks like when I get home.
