good fortunes
I keep all the fortunes from the cookies that we get from our chinese food. I have quite a little pile now. Eventually I'll do something creative with them but for now they are saved quite carefully in the cutest Hello Kitty tin our friend Martin brought me back from Japan.
The fortunes are always a good crack up. Most of the time they aren't fortunes, but little clichés of wisdom. I had an awesome one tonight.

- You are the crispy noodle in the vegetarian salad of life.
- Cookies go stale. Fortunes are forever.
- There is no time like the pleasant.
- There is no sorrow in the world that a hot both wouldn't help, just a little bit.
- You will move into a wonderful home within the year (this did not come true, darn it!).
- To be sure of hitting the target, shoot first and call whatever you hit the target.
- It's always better to light a candle than to curse the darkness.
- Life is not a struggle. It's a wiggle.
- Problems are only opportunities in work clothes.
- Mend the first break, kill the snake (Huh?).
- Never smell the inside of a hat.

I actually keep a couple of the really good fortunes in my wallet to remind me to stay upbeat and happy sometimes. Funny that a silly little slip of paper can do that.
