if you could only recommend ONE book

Good to know I'm not the only one with a massive booklist... You just never can read fast enough!

Ice Bound by Jerri Nielsen.

If you are into non-fiction and France, I'm reading Paris: The Secret History by Andrew Hussey and it is AWESOME!

Fast Food Nation by Eric Schlosser.
The Master and Margarita by Mikhail Bulgakov is one of my biggest faves.
I think every high school senior in America should read The Autobiography of Malcolm X as told to Alex Haley.
Residence on Earth by Pablo Neruda is a beautiful book of poetry. I've had to buy 5 copies so far because I keep giving them away.
I haven't heard of most of these. I've read Fast Food Nation and I too think everyone should read that. Can't wait to check these out!

@Estavanico, Malcom X is already on my booklist...I think I may have read portions in the past but don't remember any of it.

@ Little Sheba, Neruda is one of my absolute favorite poets. I think everyone should read every thing he's ever written!!! :)
Don't Leave Me This Way by Julia Fox Garrison
Guns, Germs And Steel by Jared Diamond.

It will change the way you look at human history.

FFN (and his follow-up Reefer Madness) are way, way up there too.
White Oleander by Janet Fitch.
[this is good]
The Hobbit. My old standby. Good for any age and any time.
Also the Dogs of Babel by Carolyn Parkhurst.
Handmaid's Tale, Margaret Atwood. It is my belief that this should be required reading by all.

I also love Norwegian Wood by Haruki Murakami.
[this is good]
WALDEN by Michael T. Dolan.
