I had to discipline my sweet little darling tonight. He was sitting on my chair while I was on the phone and decided to start gnawing on the azalea nearby (yes, yes, we have one inside not outside). He never eats the plants so not sure what inspired this snack, but I swatted him lightly on the nose and yelled at him.
Sure enough, he slinked into the bedroom and hid behind our floor mirror. Joe went in and gave him a treat to try and butter him up and he was fine with Joe but he didn't leave the bedroom. Forty minutes later, after dinner, Joe mentions that I should go talk to him. So I went into the bedroom and he tried to hide from me, was flinching and acting all nervous. I picked him up and cuddled him on the bed for about ten minutes before he would start purring and acting normal again, sigh. It's so strange how upset he gets. I guess the good thing is that he never repeats the bad action again!
I've had him since he was 3 months old so it's not like he was abused and it's some weird residual thing. It's just that he hates disappointing us, and especially me. He becomes so sad and upset when he is in trouble. He's worse than any child I've ever seen. It makes me so sad seeing him all upset, but like I said, it's so rare and we have to discipline him when he does something stupid. I never spray bottled him when he was little because yelling at him was just as effective and he mostly never did anything wrong. He's always been so good and mellow. But as he has become older, he gets so sad and so upset when he gets in trouble.
Poor poor kitty. He's so so good, except when he eats the azalea.

And apparently, what ever it is in the food is more deadly to cats than dogs. Even worse, the deaths started happening back in February and it's only this week that the big recall came out. They haven't pinpointed what is happening. They only did the recall after they fed the food in tests to 40 to 50 more animals and found it deadly (!!!).
But what is really disturbing is that this pet food company, Menu Foods, seems to make every pet food brand on the planet. It's not like I can easily turn to another brand (unless it's kitty junk food like Friskies) to fill Romeo's craving. Instead, I have to worry about feeding him any type of wet pet food. It also makes me wonder--are the high-end pet foods worth the price if they are made by the same people that are producing the cheap grocery store white-label brands? Clearly some of the same ingredients are in both.
I feel really frustrated, stressed and angry about this. Last night I dreamt that Romeo was sick and throwing up all over the place. I was so freaked out in my dream. I just can't imagine anything happening to him, much less as a result of the hand that feeds him.

It's true. Project 365 has fallen by the wayside. I just FORGET. And after 3-4 days of forgetting or taking pictures at the last moment in the day just to say I took something, well, I'll just stick to taking pictures as I think about it. But I have scored some interesting shots over the last couple of weeks, so here is my last almost-365 post.
Chihuly glass sculpture at Mohegan Sun. They finally cleaned it. When I saw it last it was covered in the most disgusting layer of yellow gray smoke crud. I used to work at a bottle supply company that Chihuly used to buy containers to mix his paints. He would always send a cab driver over to get the delivery which I thought was so strange.
Last week we went to the Blue Room for dinner and it was a beautiful snowy picture with the lights everywhere and even a full moon.

I'm really loving the band Psapp these days...great music and equally awesome videos. Really wonderful animation--definitely a must see. Plus there are kitties everywhere!!!
Also included in this little collection is a user-made video to the Psapp song, "On Site." It's the kittens vs. robots video and it's soooo cute. Not included is the video for their song "Hi" which isn't on YouTube and I'm not smart enough to figure out how to download it so I can add it here...
I wonder what the Steve Miller Band thinks of this version of their tune by Fat Boy Slim...
